Sanjo Hospital Mandya is owned by the Congregation of Medical Sisters of St. Joseph, St. Joseph’s Province Dharmagiri, Kothamangalam, Kerala India.
Servant of God Joseph.C.Panjikaran (1888-1949) was a Historian, Journalist, Social Activist and the founder of regious congregation of “Medical Sisters of St. Joseph”(Dharmagiri Sisters). Joseph C Panjikaran was born on 10th September 1888, in a noble family in the village of Uzhava near Cherthala in Allappuzha District, Kerala.
Our religious congregation is the fruit of the deep God experience and the merciful love of our revered founder father, servant of God Msgr. Joseph Panjikaran (1888-1949) towards the sick and the suffering. Msgr. Panjikaran who was the director of the propagation of Faith in the Vicariate of Ernakulam had taken keen interest in his life to proclaim the Gospel to the poor. A zealous poster that he was, Msgr. Panjikaran had directly seen the pain, the hardships and the loneliness of the sick and the poor during his many pastoral visits. It was his deep conviction that the church had the responsibility to provide medical service to these poor people.
St. Joseph’s province was formed in1994 and has 360 sisters, working in various health care institutions. We serve the sick at home, in dispensaries, community centres, tribal colonies, Hospitals, in rural & urban areas. We are privileged to serve in General Hospital, Mental Hospitals, Centre for AIDS patients, Holistic healing centre.
